C. D. Stanley was born and raised in the San Diego area of California. He grew up hiking, motorcycling, and adventuring in a small town called Santee. Always appreciating good literature, he made his own disturbing versions of popular magazines. Instead of "Life"(tm), "Mad"(tm), and "TIME"(tm) magazines, he wrote "Death," "Anger," and "WATCH" magazines. Not to be outdone by TIME (The International Magazine of Events), WATCH Magazine (Weird Articles for Troglodytes, Creeps and Hellions) was full of articles covering everything from, "How to Offend Damn Near Everyone" to "Nuclear Weapons for Beginners" to "Go Green: Reupholstering your Furniture with Used Bandages." Always one to take a good idea too far, he was inspired by two books entitled, "Games You Can't Win" and "Games You Can't Lose" (by Marty Riskin and Herb Kavet - American Publishing Corporation) and wrote his own book entitled, "Games You Can't Play." C. D. Stanley has always enjoyed filking and even entertained notions of being the literary equivalent of Weird Al Yankovic. Ah, the folly of youth.

Weaned on C. S. Lewis and Isaac Asimov, C. D. Stanley has always dreamed of alien worlds, FTL ships, and extraterrestrials with bizarre abilities. Although Science Fiction is his main genre, Stanley also loves writing Fantasy, Christian Fiction & Science Fiction, Non-Fiction, Satire and Humor.

C.D. Stanley was given early retirement from the U.S. Navy when he was run-down by a station wagon  His current home is in a small Arizona town on the edge of the Prescott National Forest. The tiny community was previously called "Nowhere" and is now named "Wilhoit." He goes to church with his wife Polly and son Taylor at Harvest Bible Chapel in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
